The depiction of the naked body is among the main subjects of Western visual culture, which reaches its highest expressive value with the use of photography. The new tool introduces a re-evaluation both in perception and content regarding the representation of the nude, which, before the discovery of photography, was limited to exclusive pictorial and sculptural reproduction. In light of this, it is easy to understand why the photographic nude is one of the first genres born alongside photography.
