The Golden Camellia is the yellow camellia (Camellia chrysantha or nitidissima), a very rare plant species, with an upright habit, which was planted in the garden of Villa Anelli in the 1960s. It blooms sparingly, every five years: a small, simple, fleshy yellow flower, with shiny leaves rich in veins.
The Golden Camellia is also the name of an inn mentioned in the novel “Shogun,” a heroic saga set in ancient Japan. The Golden Camellia was the place where the protagonist of the book, in an intense moment of his life spent defending the ideals of his homeland, rested with his beloved.
For us, the Golden Camellia is therefore synonymous with ‘buen retiro’; it is a hidden place in a garden full of camellias, rich in history and symbols, happy to welcome people who love greenery and wish to carve out some time for themselves, in a silent and magnificent setting, where the view is satisfied by lush and rare nature. That is why we chose it as the name for our family business.
